Hope for Tomorrow's Leaders (H4TL)

A competitive initiative to identify youth leaders who may be stand out students, prodigies or top achievers (not necessarily just academic achievers) in the community and provide them with tools to reach their highest potential.

GOALS

Another goal of the Hope for Tomorrow Leaders program is to obtain financial sponsorships from corporations and the community for these leaders to reduce financial barriers of obtaining higher education.  An objective is to set up an endowment fund for the Hope for Tomorrow Leaders to be used to attend/offset college tuition costs. Another objective is to use the sponsorships for educationally enriched field trips such as college campus tours, etc.

OBJECTIVES

1.  Identify 16 boys and 16 girls per year who will be admitted into the H4TL program.

2.  The Leaders will need to meet specified qualifications:

     a.  Identified as an incoming freshman (9th grade) in high school.

     b.  Identified and recommended by a person in the community (non-family member) who recognizes leadership skills in the potential H4TL candidate.

     c.  Submit a completed application that will be reviewed by a H4TL Applicant Review Panel.

     d.  Commit to remaining in H4TL from acceptance in the program until graduating from High School.

3.  A new group of 16 boys and 16 girls identified as incoming freshmen in high school will be identified each year.

4.    Applicants who are honor students are definitely welcome to apply; however, it is not required that an applicant have academic prowess.  H4TL is looking for students who exhibit leadership qualities in combination with any one of the following attributes:

     a.  Academic prowess              b.  Highly self-motivated  

     c.  Technology savvy                 d.  Innovative thinker

     e.  Community service conscious

5.    The H4TL will go through designated intensives each year.

6.    Each H4TL will have hands-on follow-up services provided by The Elder’s House Youth Empowerment Center staff to ensure success in the H4TL program as well as each scholar graduate will receive periodic follow-up services once they enter college.
